Wellness Policy
Covid19 had a devastating effect on many people around the world. After holding the Convention online in 2021, we were delighted to see everyone again in person in 2023. We asked everyone to follow our Covid19 policy in 2023 and we would like to say a big Thank You to everyone for complying.
Unfortunately Covid19 has not gone away and, furthermore, we know there are many other flus, cold, bugs and infections that can easily spread at gathering such as the Irish Discworld Convention. We do not wish to enforce mask-wearing on everyone at all times, but we ask you to please be mindful of your fellow attendees and bear in mind that other attendees may be vulnerable or may live with a vulnerable person.
Therefore we ask you to:
- Please be up to date on your Covid19 and flu vaccinations and boosters, where possible;
- Please take a Covid19 test the day before you travel and do not attend IDWCon if it is positive;
- Please consider wearing a mask in the main events, queues and in crowded spaces;
- Please remember to wash your hands regularly and often;
- Please do NOT hug anyone without asking (this is good life advice anyway);
- If someone in your company is wearing a mask, please be respectful and keep your distance. Acknowledge that this person is staying as safe as they can and either put on a mask or ensure you are 2 metres apart from them;
- Harassment or negative comments around mask-wearing will not be tolerated;
- If you feel unwell during the convention, please return to your room and do not interact with other attendees.
We ask you to follow these steps for the comfort and safety of your fellow attendees.
We will continue to monitor the health advice from the HSE and reserve the right to alter this policy in response to advice from the HSE and the Irish government.
Please note that IDWCon can not take any responsibility should anyone become infected with COVID-19 during the convention. Please stay safe.
